![]() Regarding the defeat of the bid to reopen the same-sex marriage debate, Stephen Harper told the media: "We made a promise to have a free vote on this issue; we kept that promise, and obviously the vote was decisive and obviously we'll accept the democratic result of the people's representatives, I don't see reopening this question in the future." CBC News reported that Harper is trying to appeal to mainstream voters for a coveted majority government, so he is content to leave the issue. As often is the case with gay people, we are left thinking "When will they understand our point of view?" Harper has alienated all gay people with his aggressive hatred directed at gay people, now all he has to say is that "We made a promise"?? Some attempt at reconciliation is called for. It seems that Harper is so ideologically driven, that he never considers apologies. Another example of this is the Maher Arar case. Now that Giuliano Zaccardelli has resigned, maybe Harper is thinking that nothing else is needed...All Harper is doing now is hiding behind the bureaucratic process. This is a continuing pattern with Harper's government: all political maneuvering and no human considerations. We need to do everything we can to remove this political automaton. "I think religion has always tried to turn hatred toward gay people," John said in the Observer newspaper’s Music Monthly Magazine. "Religion promotes the hatred and spite against gays.""But there are so many people I know who are gay and love their religion," he said. "From my point of view, I would ban religion completely. Organized religion doesn’t seem to work. It turns people into really hateful lemmings and it’s not really compassionate." We spent a week in Paris, with the help of Guillaume from Pink Travel, who suggested we take a Homo Art Tour. We had our own guide showing us many sexy highlights in the Louvre. Our guide, Pierre-Guy, explained that there has always been a problem with the portrayal of nudity, but the male figure was always more available to artists than females. We saw several examples of nude male with draped female figures. There are also several hermaphrodites. He told us that even the famous Venus de Milo has been suspected to be hermaphroditic - from some angles the gender is very ambiguous.
