Happy Pride!

A few years ago, I felt that the gay pride celebrations had lost their place. The celebrations seemed slick and corporate, with no edge, everything was now mainstream, just another parade. The thrill of seeing the Mayor, the Premier, the Police Chief marching in the parade had worn off.
How wrong I was! We now have a Canadian Prime Minister that openly hates gay people. The U.N. Human Rights Committee lists anti-gay job discrimination and hate crimes as areas that leave gay US citizens vulnerable.
We have made huge changes in the years since Stonewall. As more gay people bravely come out, "gay" loses it's stigma and becomes normalized.
We still have much work to do, making the world less fearful.
